Knowledge Puffs Up
Now as touching things offered unto idols, we know that we all have knowledge. Knowledge puffeth up, but charity edifieth. - 1 Corinthian 8:1 KJV
But knowledge puffs up while love builds up - NIV
The parable of the sower, reveals division caused by acquired knowledge and understanding. This parable clearly spells out that acquired knowledge and understanding will cause some to bear fruit and others to be ineffective. Creating division / judgment / contrast between people, those who “produce” and those who do not, the haves and the have nots. This has caused many pastors to focus on those who could learn and dismiss those who could not.
Then he told them many things in parables, saying: “A farmer went out to sow his seed.” Mt 13:3 NIV“Listen then to what the parable of the sower means: When anyone hears the message about the kingdom and does not understand it, the evil one comes and snatches away what was sown in their heart. This is the seed sown along the path. The seed falling on rocky ground refers to someone who hears the word and at once receives it with joy. But since they have no root, they last only a short time. When trouble or persecution comes because of the word, they quickly fall away. The seed falling among the thorns refers to someone who hears the word, but the worries of this life and the deceitfulness of wealth choke the word, making it unfruitful. But the seed falling on good soil refers to someone who hears the word and understands it. This is the one who produces a crop, yielding a hundred, sixty or thirty times what was sown.” Mt 13:18-23 NIV
What is the seed ? Jesus said “the message about the kingdom” the kingdom is the realm of love, not knowledge, and exceeds knowledge.
and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.Eph 3:19 NIV
When the Lord said “I will give you wisdom, knowledge and understanding will come later.” he began to reveal the kingdom manifesting among us. Wisdom can be acted upon without knowledge or understanding which is the essence of following. This eliminates the “puffing up” of people and the division of acquired knowledge and understanding.
Consider for yourself how the Lord Jesus functioned as he followed the Father “whatever I say is just what the Father has told me to say." Jn 12:50 ”the Son ….; can do only what he sees his Father doing” Jn 5:19
