Pastoring Is Easy as is the Christian Life Together, getting to know our Father in heaven

Thoughts for Meditation from Pastor Tom
Find Rest for Your Soul
Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.Mt 11:29
There is a way that appears to be right, but in the end it leads to death. Pr 16:25 NIV
“The Lord gave me a mind to think” is a common justification used for those who wish to defend their “doctrinal” position, their right to think, reason and judge. This is true in essence for the Lord is calling us to humbly “yield this position and it’s turmoil” for the rest available in relationship with him,
Living in the “tree of the knowledge of good and evil” which appears to be right is the condition of mankind without Christ and offers no rest for the soul. Constant assessment, evaluation and judgments are required to function and are all subject to questioning, creating insecurity, etc.
A person must die to self direction, humbly yielding all thinking, reasoning, assessing, understanding, and judgment to God the Father. Rest for the soul comes to those who accept Jesus’ call to develop a trust relationship with the Father as he demonstrated. Learning to only say and do that which the Father directs leaving all results and responsibility confidently in his hands. A place of peace.
Remember this is all as directed by the Lord through knowing his voice and following. Only by yielding and following can one die to themselves and live for the Lord. Any self direction done by personal understanding is not under his lordship. To be secure and confident in what you say and unshaken when spoken against, the Lord must be the confidence of your speech, action and identity.
Only experiencing loving intimacy with the Lord will free you from self direction. There is only one soul I can yield - mine, and I cannot yield to someone I do not trust. His lordship is the result of relationship not self directed submission. A decision to make him Lord is only a starting point and must be established and proven through experience. Becoming one with the Lord requires all areas of life be yielded in trust, a condition only the Lord can assess or declare. This makes it his to accomplish as we follow.
Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:Ph 1:6 No thinking , reasoning , assessing or judgment ! Rest for your soul !

  • Remember: Ask the Lord “Is this true?"
