Thoughts for Meditation from Pastor Tom
Change your Default
There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.Proverbs 14:12 KJV
The tree of knowledge gives each person a unique moral standard and sense of judgment, being “right” as well as the accompanying insecurity. This position causes a person to need to defend and establish the validity of their opinion and to maintain their own self righteousness to avoid guilt. Separation from others, blame, and accusations come from having to be right in our own “way”
And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat:But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.Genesis 2:16-17 KJV
This is the default position of mankind, caught in the “realm of reason” defending their “right” with no relief from guilt or rest for their soul. Each person defines their own “law” of “good and evil” and is trapped by their own limited knowledge and experience. Separated from others with increasing insecurities ever seeking confirmation and acceptance.
O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death? I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then with the mind I myself serve the law of God; but with the flesh the law of sin.Romans 7:24-25 KJV
For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh: That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.Romans 8:3-4 KJV
God has provided deliverance through Christ’s blood, free access to himself and the “mind of Christ” by way of his Spirit. Setting your mind and actively yielding to the Spirit will develop a new default for life. Following the Lord, living by conversation, not knowledge or assumption, by his faith, his belief.
It’s his plan, will you change your default ?What would be best for you and your loved ones ?

  • Remember: Ask the Lord “Is this true?"
